Camping Season

The school holidays are almost among us, and along with that comes our busy camping season!

We have had a busy few months providing lots of school residentials, and with that our Iceni House and Tented Village have been fully booked formany, many months. In fact, we will continue to have very limited availability for these for months in the future too. So, thank goodness for camping!

Eaton Vale is a popular location for Scouts and Guides for their summer camping trips. It’s understandable why, as we have masses of wide open areas, lovely tree-lined campsites, and our central toilet block that is maintained multiple times a day. It also helps that camping is only 3 per person per night, so it is extremely affordable.

If you would like to book your camping trip with us, please contact us. Be quick though, as we don’t have much availability left!

We are so excited to announce that we have launched online bookings!

After almost a whole year of Holiday Club, the demand we have received for bookings has been incredible! We hear daily from parents wanting to book spaces on to our Holiday Club.

The online booking system will automatically take off the 10% early bird discount for you when applicable, and it has the capability to enter the 10% sibling discount at the checkout with a discount code.

Watersports Instructors

We have had a fantastic start to summer 2018. We have already seen lots of schools and Scout and Guide groups come through our doors, as well as the start of Holiday Club for the year.

We have welcomed a fantastic group of instructors into our team this season. They have brought a wide variety of fantastic qualities with them, as well as lots of brilliant qualifications. We are however in need of some extra watersports qualified instructors for our busy summer season. If you have qualifications such as British Canoeing FSRT, Level 1+, and/or Paddlesports Leader, we would love to hear from you!

If you would like to apply, please fill in an application form. This can be found here.

Finnbar’s Force Adventure Day

Come along to the Finnbar’s Force Adventure Day here at Eaton Vale Activity Centre!

We’re pleased to be teaming up with Finnbar’s Force for a fundraising adventure day. Finnbar’s Force are a charity close to the hearts of many members of staff here at Eaton Vale. We’re very excited to be joining them in their fight against childhood brain tumours, and welcoming them to our centre on the 10th September.

Thrill seeking children and adults can try any of the adventurous activities (some minimum age/height/size restrictions will apply to some activities), but there will be something for everyone!

The main activities will be: Family Canoeing, Archery, Abseiling, Axe Throwing, Air Rifle Shooting, High/Low Ropes, Trapeze, Catapult, Grass Sledging, Go Karts. There will be plenty for smaller children too, with fair game stalls, soft play, bouncy castle, face painting, circus skills, story telling and lots more!

We will have a selection of stalls to browse, health & well being tents, BBQ, a cafe with tea/coffee and cakes. There will also be local display teams performing throughout the day as well as live music from a local band and compeering from a local comedian!

Free entry. Free on site parking, although please walk or use alternative transport where possible to minimise congestion!

Archery GB

Archery GB Course

The summer season is well and truly in swing, and many of you know that we ran an Archery GB course at the start of the season to train many of our new seasonal staff. It was incredibly successful, and now almost all of our team hold an Archery GB Coaching qualification.

With an Archery GB qualification, our instructors can lead both archery and axe throwing here at Eaton Vale Activity Centre. It’s a great qualification to have under your belt. Whether you’re a Scout leader or have a passion for archery, this course will teach you everything you need to know about archery and how to run beginning sessions.

“You learn how to tailor sessions to individual needs, including those with physical disabilities to make it accessible for everyone.” – Dom, seasonal instructor

This course will be ran from the 22nd September to the 24th September. For more information, please visit:

ERCA PPE Inspector Course

The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) requires that all Personal Protective Equipment is inspected every 6 months to ensure that is it safe to use and is fit for purpose. Any equipment we use for ropes such as ropes, karabiners and harnesses are all need to be checked under LOLER by a competent person.

LOLER states that:

“You should ensure that the person carrying out a thorough examination has such appropriate practical and theoretical knowledge and experience of the lifting equipment to be thoroughly examined as will enable them to detect defects or weaknesses and to assess their importance in relation to the safety and continued use of the lifting equipment”

We are running an ERCA PPE Inspector course here at Eaton Vale Scout and Guide Activity Centre in Norwich on Tuesday 11th – Thursday 13th April. The cost is £275+VAT per person. The course will teach you the skills to be able carry out the 6 monthly PPE Inspections. It covers  all types of PPE from Caving, Ropes courses, Climbing and Arborist. By doing the course you can show that you will be a competent person in inspections.

BOOK EARLY TO GET 10% OFF – offer valid only this week (valid until Monday 20th March)

All equipment for the course is provided and there is plenty of accommodation around Norwich that is a good price. We also offer camping facilities here at the centre for £3 per night. Meals are not included in the price but tea, coffee and biscuits are provided throughout the course.
